Collaborations

I take inspiration from the work of Alvise Vidolin in realizing my role and the contributions that I make to the music. Laura Zattra describes him as a “computer music designer.” Vidolin himself describes his role as a performer who “not only ‘plays’ during a concert but also designs the performance environment for the piece, and acts as an interface between the composer’s musical idea, and its transformation into sound.”

As a computer music designer seeking to emulate Vidolin, I try to understand the composer’s broader intentions and not only design individual effects at their request, but design the live electronics to develop over time in a way that complements the form and structure of the work on a large scale. Through attention to form, I hope to complement the true nature of the work with my contribution.
